Indonesian shipping business players who incorporated in Indonesian National Shipowners Association (INSA) supported the implementation of Trade Ministerial Regulation (Permendag) No. 48/2018 about the amendment of Trade Ministerial Regulation No. 82/2017 about the use of sea transportation and national insurance for the export and import of certain goods.

The Chairman of INSA, Mrs. Carmelita Hartoto said that her association has prepared a roadmap about transportation for export and import which being regulated on related Permendag. One of the things they have prepared is their sea-transport route readiness.

“As the first step, we are ready to transport goods to ASEAN region, such as Vietnam, The Philippines, and Malaysia,” said Mrs. Carmelita in INSA Headquarter, Jakarta.

Apart from preparing the nearest routes, INSA also demanded the Value Added Tax (VAT) of fuel oil in the amount of 10% and diesel fuel in the amount of 5% to be abolished as applied to shipping for the three coal transportation commodities, CPO, and rice.

“If the government abolished the VAT of fuel oil, it would definitely trigger positive impact to the reduction of operational cost and so our price could be competitive enough. The point is we demand the equal treatment like other countries. If it equals, we would be very optimist to compete in the global trade,” said Mrs. Carmelita.
